Reconstruction of East Houston Street, Borough of Manhattan

JED served as a sub-consultant providing resident engineering inspection services for the reconstruction of East Houston Street. The scope of the work is to replace the existing infrastructure such as water mains, sewers and utilities along East Houston Street from Bowery Street to the FDR Drive.  In addition, the work included the enhancement of the malls to complement the Greenstreets elements constructed on West Houston Street and the creation of two new Greenstreets. One unique component about the new Greenstreets is that existing travel lanes along East Houston Street will be removed from the street grid to create green pedestrian friendly areas at Avenue A and Avenue D. All of this work were combined to make the neighborhoods in and around East Houston Street more vibrant, attractive, safe and accessible.
